Homemade Laundry Detergent Without Harmful Chemicals
Have you ever wondered just like food what type of harmful chemicals are being feed into your body day after day just by what laundry detergent you use. Not only are the containers in which they are sold are extremely harmful for the environment, but carcinogens, and pollutants. This recipe will provide you with a much more cost effective alternative:

Materials
- 1 cup of washing soda
- 1 cup of baking soda
- 1 cup of epsom salt
- 1/2 cup of Baby Oxiclean optional, but very helpful when laundry contains lots of stains
- Optional-15 drops of essential oils wild orange is a great scent
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix all of the ingredients until well combined. Try to get rid of any clumps if there are any.
- Store your homemade detergent in an airtight container or mason jar.
How to Use:
- Designate a tablespoon to keep in your container.
- Use 1-2 tablespoons of detergent per load, depending on the size and soil level of your laundry
- Add the detergent directly to the drum of your washing machine before adding your clothes.
Carcinogens
Carcinogens are substances that can cause cancer by damaging and alternating DNA leading to cell growth and cancer. To be careful of this aspect try to avoid ingredients like1,4-Dioxane, Benxene, ethylene oxide, formaldehyde, and phthalates. Adding baby oxiclean obtains some of these carcinogens so if you want a laundry detergent you can keep it completely out however it will not have as much of a cleaning capability.
Pollutant
Phosphates, nonylphenol ethoxylates and synthetic fragrances are all harmful to aquatic life where a lot of human trash sadly wind up. This means that if these products get dumped in the ocean or water it can negatively effect all of the animals and living things in this body of water.
